ADM Chief Executive Officer Patricia Woertz said in an interview that the company will produce about 5 billion gallons of ethanol this year and projects production leaping to about 14 billion gallons in the near future.

It’s probably a good thing that Tennessee hasn’t built first-generation ethanol plants. Jim Cooper says it’s better to wait than rush to subsidize flawed projects. “What I worry about is our inferior technologies begging for subsidies ... ."
